Rest In Pieces follows the haunting story of a young woman who's aunt just committed suicide. In a video will, her and her husband are left with the Aunt's estate including "more money than they can imagine." They travel to what appears to be an upper class suburban neighborhood owned totally by the deceased aunt. The tenants behave strangely and claim that they don't pay rent! Strange seemingly supernatural happenings continue to haunt the couple as the plot of an undead cult begins to unravel.
A passable, if not slightly below average entry into supernatural 80's horror. RIP has some potential with it's almost interesting story. The characters aren't fleshed out well enough to really invest in. The husband is a former tennis player who really (I mean really) wants this inheritance money and the wife...well she looks exactly like her mother. That's about it. The neighbors/tenants aren't really given much to work with either before they start stabbing people to death. A film like this could be much better given some serious focus on it's characters before diving into the horror.
Still, RIP isn't a complete waste of time. You'll get your share of undead stalking, paranormal happenings, some bloodshed, and nudity. The actress portraying the deceased aunt has some creepy moments. The rest of the undead cult fails to be frightening at all. I'd be lying to you if I said it doesn't fall a little flat a lot of the time. There is an atmosphere going here but nobody is going to be losing any sleep over this one. Its not bad and it's not very good either.
